Automatically controlled all-wheel drive (4MATIC), general

The automatically controlled all-wheel drive (4MATIC) is a permanent all-wheel drive with central differential.

Integration of the transfer case in the A/T reduces the teeth engagement and realizes an optimized lubrication concept. The base blocking torque of 50
Nm serves traction improvement at low engine torque and serves to prevent drive train vibrations. The fixed drive torque distribution is 45 % at the
front axle and 55 % at the rear axle.

The drive torque is distributed via a single-speed transfer case without off-road ratio to the drive axles (drive train).
