Power Trunk / Liftgate Lock Switch: Description and Operation

The remote trunk release (RTR) provides remote opening of the trunk lid. This function can be initiated via a switch in the interior or by pressing the
button on the IR transmiffer for remote central locking (RCL) twice within 1 second. After activating the remote trunk release, the vehicle is centrally
unlocked and subsequently the latch is actuated by a vacuum element. The trunk lid opens.

An opened trunk lid is indicated by an LED integrated into the remote trunk release switch.

Unintended actuation while driving is prevented via the recognition of the speed signal. The speed signal (above 3mph or 5km/h) is present at the
combination control module (N10-1) and is transmitted from there via the CAN data bus to the PSE control module.

In order to ensure protection against theft, the opening of the trunk lid via the interior RTR switch is not possible if the vehicle has been locked from
outside, the vehicle with the IR transmitter, or mechanical key.
