Front Axle Carrier - Mounting

MOUNTING OF FRONT AXLE CARRIER TO LONGITUDINAL FRAME RAILS

The front axle carrier is attached to the longitudinal frame rails with tapered self-tapping bolts (f1). Always observe the following:

-

Never attempt to recut the threads in the longitudinal frame rails as the thread and pitch of the bolts (f1) are not of DIN-Norm.

-

In case of repair, install four new bolts (part no. 210 984 00 29).

-

Clean mating surfaces of front axle carrier and longitudinal frame rails and inspect for evenness before reassembling.

-

Do not cross thread bolts.

-

Do not use pneumatic tools when reassembling.

-

Observe tightening torque (130 Nm).

Note: 

Front End/Wheel Housing Assembly replacement parts for body and chassis repairs are supplied with bolts and pre-threaded mounting holes. These
bolts are to be used for the mounting of the front axle carrier after the repair is completed.
