Ring Gear: Adjustments

1. Push side bearing covers (27b or 27c, 27d) into rear axle housing (50) and install differential gear (13) as follows:

a. Coat periphery of O-rings in the bearing cover (27b or 27c. 27d) with suitable hypoid or universal hypoid transmission fluid

b. Push both side bearing covers (27b or 27c, 27d) together with shims into the rear axle housing until they are flush with the inner edge of

housing

Observe applied marking of bearing cover with shim.

c. Install differential gear in rear axle housing and push both side bearing covers (27b or 27c, 27d) in up to the stop

Do not damage O-rings when inserting the bearing covers

NOTE:

Standard bearing covers illustrated

Observe installed position of side bearing covers

The standard and ASR bearing covers are identified with the inscription "BOTTOM"
