NOTE:  Right-hand thread!

Remove fan shroud (2).
-

On models fitted with suction fan, first of all separate the plug connection of the suction fan.

Remove resonance pipe (9) and resonance body (10)
-

Separate plug connection of hot film mass air flow sensor (HFM-SFI) for this step, and unbolt resonance pipe at cylinder head cover.

NOTE:  The resonance pipe is attached at the rear at the intake manifold with a plastic plate.

CAUTION:  Do not damage plastic plate.

Remove hot film mass air flow sensor together with air intake pipe.

Detach fixtures of ATF lines at the bottom part and at top part of oil pan.

Remove oil pan bottom section (3).

Separate electric cable at oil level sensor (B40).

Remove oil pipe (4) from dipstick
-

Remove one bolt at cylinder head cover!

NOTE:  Installation:  Replace sealing ring!.

Detach ATF lines on right and left at transmission bell
-

Collect ATF, place ATF lines to the side and seal connections!

Unscrew bolts (5) of front engine mounts (8) at front axle carrier (16)

Fit on engine supporting frame.

Raise engine

CAUTION:  Ensure that the engine and its attached parts do not touch the body
-

Do not overtension coolant lines!

Support front axle carrier (16) with inspection pit or assembly lift.

Unscrew bolt (6) of steering joint.

CAUTION:  Installation:  Replace nut and bolt.

Unclamp front springs.

CAUTION:  The front springs must be slackened before lowering the front axle carrier (16)!

Unbolt fixture (17) of ATF line (18) at front axle carrier (16)

Unscrew bolts (15) at front axle carrier (16)

CAUTION:  The bolts (15) are self-tapping; pay attention to the following procedure:
-

Never retap thread in longitudinal member.

-

Replace bolts.

-

Use only genuine bolts (4 in total).

-

Do not position bolts at an angle when screwing in.

-

Do not use an impact screwdriver.

-

Pay attention to tightening torque.

Lower front axle carrier (16)

NOTE:  Installation:
-

Contact surfaces of front axle carrier to longitudinal member must be cleaned and flat.

-

Insert locating pins (arrows) at front axle carrier into the holes in the longitudinal member when fitting on.

Remove oil pan top section (7)
-

Take out oil pan to the fron in direction of travel for this step; rotate crankshaft slightly, if necessary.

NOTE:  Installation:
-

Observe different bolt lengths and bolt diameters!

-

Clean sealing surfaces, apply sealant to the sealing surfaces with a bead of 2.0 mm ± 0.5 mm! The sealant must be applied within 10 minutes!
