CAUTION:

Do not connect quiescent current retention unit.
3.1 Remove rear muffler
3.2 Remove exhaust system from flange connection onwards

Remove underbody paneling
NOTE: Only left and right rear sections.

Remove rear brake cables
NOTE: Do not remove the rear brake cables from the wheel carrier.

Detach propeller shaft (106) from rear axle center assembly
NOTE: The flexible coupling remains on the propeller shaft.

Loosen fitted sleeves of flexible couplings on flange.

Unscrew bolts for propeller shaft intermediate bearing (106a) and remove rear half of propeller shaft (106)
NOTE: Installation: Assemble the propeller shaft in the correct position. Tighten flexible coupling on rear axle center assembly before
tightening bolts on propeller shaft intermediate bearing.

Remove rear wheels.

Remove rear brake pads
CAUTION: Hang the brake caliper up with a hook to relieve the strain on the brake hose.

Remove fender liner from rear fender

Unplug electrical connectors for brake and chassis components from rear axle.

Unclip electrical feed cables (arrows) of left and right rear wheel speed sensors (L6/3, L6/4) and rear right brake pad contact sensor (S10/4) from
retaining clips

Unclip left and right air springs (6i) from frame floor using assembly lever

With Airmatic, code (489a)
NOTE: Installation: Push the air springs onto the retaining clip on the frame floor until they lock with an audible click.

Detach shock absorber (6) from spring links

Remove left and right rear springs

Clamp off filler hose (17) of fuel tank

Risk of explosion from fuel igniting, risk of poisoning from inhaling and swallowing fuel as well as risk of injury to eyes and skin from
contact with fuel.

No fire, sparks, naked flames or smoking. Pour fuels only into suitable and appropriately marked containers.

Wear protective clothing when handling fuel

Disconnect filler hose (17) of fuel tank from filler neck (17a)
CAUTION: Collect escaping fuel in a suitable container!

Check filler hose and hose clamps, if necessary

Empty fuel tank and replace filler hose.

Lower rear axle
NOTE: Lower rear axle approx. 200 mm.

Remove front rubber mounts (1a) of rear axle mounting
NOTE: Always replace front rubber mounts in pairs.
