Interior - Luggage Compartment Cover Improper Operation

Luggage Compartment Cover

If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles of the luggage compartment cover not operating properly which may be caused by a loose
magnet in the side pins, a malfunctioning handle and/or a bent guide strut, it is not necessary to replace the luggage compartment cover. To resolve,
replace only the strut or handle as follows.

1.

Remove luggage compartment cover and lay top side down on a flat, clean surface (such as a workbench).

2.

Lay a suitable support piece (plastic or wood) underneath the luggage compartment cover handle. The shafts of the 4 plastic expansion rivets
(Figure 1, 1) must be visible on the handle.

3.

Using a 5 mm punch, force the shafts of the plastic expansion rivets (Figure 1, 1) downwards out of the handle. Punching the shafts out may cause
damage to the bottom piece of the handle in which case the handle can no longer be used.

4.

Use a plastic wedge to detach and remove the handle. Push strut to the side and out of the cover.
