Do not disconnect lines.

Installation: On a new timing case cover, the threads for fastening the power steering pump are not tapped. For this reason, on a new timing
case cover new self-tapping bolts must be used for fastening.

Observe tightening torque if the threads are not pre-tapped.

Remove poly-V-belt guide pulley of compressor (22) at timing case cover

Remove coolant pump (9) at timing case cover
NOTE: Take plastic cover off guide pulley.

Remove compressor (20)

Separate electric cable from coolant thermostat

Unscrew cylinder head bolts -> timing case cover (17) on right and left

Unscrew bolts of timing case cover
NOTE: Installation: Apply sealing compound to bolts, for this step observe bolt diagram of timing case cover.

Take off timing case cover
NOTE:

Installation: Clean sealing surfaces, apply sealing compound only to specified surfaces in the form of a bead with a height and width of 2.0
mm ± 0.5 mm. The sealant must be applied within 10 minutes! The silicone bead must not be spread!

Installation: Replace sealing rings of timing case (16).
CAUTION: See Information on application of sealant to timing case cover.

Replace front crankshaft radial seal.

Install in the reverse order

Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving.

Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes.

Run engine and inspect for leaks.

Inspect cooling system for leaks

First of all, warm up engine to operating temperature.
