Water Leaking Into Trunk and/or Third Brake Light Not Water Tight and/or Electrical Fault
If you receive customer reports on the above model vehicles for the subject conditions, please refer to the below possible causes I remedy.
If water is leaking into the trunk, check to see if the third brake light opening in trunk lid is correctly stamped out. If not, the third brake light will not sit
deep enough into the trunk lid and therefore the seal may not make full contact.
To resolve, remove third brake light. Smooth edge of third brake light opening with a file. Apply primer touch up stick paint, A000 986 06 50, to filed
edges for corrosion protection. After paint dries, reinstall third brake light and check for leaks.
If there is water intrusion, or corrosion or an electrical fault with the third brake light, check to see if the third brake light lens has been incorrectly
bonded to housing. That could allow water to penetrate into the third brake light leading to an electrical failure.
To resolve, replace third brake light. Part number and Q status is unchanged, only improved parts are available from the PDC.
