Poly-V belt makes noises
NOTE:
The groove in the Poly-V-belt on the engine side may be damaged.
Cause:
Belt vibrations during extreme sporty driving.
Remedy:
Additional poly0V-belt guide pulley was phased into production as of engine number 15698X 60 026271, together with modified timing case cover.
1. Remove the poly-V-belt. Refer to WIS documents AR13.20-P-0001*MG (*-refers to a different model)
2. The additional poly-V-belt guide pulley (Figure 1) must be installed below the belt tensioner in the location as illustrated on Figure 2
3. Remove existing screws from locations 2 and 3, Figure 3.
4. Place the additional pulley holder (Figure 3, 1) as illustrated and attached with two screws:
a. Attach shorter M8 x 55 screw (Figure 3, 2) on the top as illustrated and torque it to 20 Nm
b. Attach longer M8 x 110 screw (Figure 3, 3) on the bottom as illustrated and torque it to 20 NM
5. Install additional pulley (Figure 4, 5) by securing it with the torx head bolt (Figure 4, 6) and screwing it into the hole (Figure 3, 4). torque the pulley
bolt to 30 Nm.
NOTE:
The hole for additional poly-V-belt guide pulley (Figure 3, 4) is not tapped (threaded). The bolt (Figure 4, 6) fastening the pulley must be forced screwed
(self-tapped) into the hole. Make sure to center the bolt in the pulley.
6. Cover the torx bolt with the cap (Figure 4, 7).
7. Install the new poly-V-belt as per parts information. Refer to WIS documents as in step 1.
