Location

The reversible emergency tensioning retractors are located in the respective B-pillar.

Task

The reversible emergency tensioning retractors perform the following tasks:

Reducing the existing seat belt slack

Fixing the occupants in position in the seats

Retain seat belt force

Release seat belt force

The reversible emergency tensioning retractors are connected via the Controller Area Network bus Class C (engine compartment) (CAN C) to the ESP
control unit (N47-5), which transmits the signal to trigger the reversible emergency tensioning retractors.
