Vehicle remote unlocking

If the driver has locked himself out (transmitter key (A8/1) locked in vehicle or lost), he can report to the Service Center, identify himself and request
remote door unlocking of the vehicle. The driver and the Service Center agree on a time period, for which the trunk lid external operation switch (S88/8)
(model 212.0) or liftgate external operation switch (S88/8) (model 212.2) has to be operated. The external operation switch has to be pressed for at least
t = 15 s within this time period. The vehicle notifies the relevant Service Center of this using the cellular telephone system. At the same time, a message
appears in the instrument cluster indicating to the driver that the service is being performed. The Service Center checks whether a simultaneous request
from the driver is present. At the same time, a message appears in the instrument cluster indicating to the driver that the service is being performed. The
red light-emitting diode in the emergency call system button also flashes.

If plausibility is checked and found to be successful, a request is sent over mobile radio from the Service Center to unlock the vehicle.

If "Vehicle remote door unlock" is refused by the Service Center because, for example, the external operation switch was not actuated at the time agreed
on or legitimization was incorrect, the vehicle remote door unlock function is disabled for t = 15 min.

Vehicle remote locking

The driver notifies the Service Center, legitimizes himself/herself and requests remote door locking of the vehicle. The system receives the command and
checks whether it can be performed. The system then sends feedback to the Service Center as to whether the request can be implemented or not. The
Service Center then informs the driver of the result.
