The vehicle-related vehicle remote door unlock is authorized separately

An emergency call system control unit (N123/4) communication module authorized for the corresponding vehicle-related service is configured
ex-factory with the telephone number of the corresponding service provider

The driver is registered and authorized at the Service Center

One mobile phone network is available in sufficient strength and quality

Telephone call by driver to Service Center and request for vehicle remote door unlock as well as identification (authorization) at Service Center

^

Actuation of trunk lid external operation switch (S88/8) (model 212.0) or liftgate external operation switch (S88/8) (model 212.2) for at least t =
15 s at a time agreed with the Service Center

A higher-priority vehicle-related service is not active

Vehicle remote door unlock, general

The vehicle remote door unlock function enables the driver to have his/her vehicle remotely unlocked by a Service Center if, e.g. he/she has left the
transmitter key (A8/1) in the locked vehicle and does not have access to a second transmitter key.

Vehicle remote door unlock function sequence

Actuation of the external operation switch is received by the emergency call system control unit in the following way:

Rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2)

Interior CAN (CAN B)

Front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1)

Diagnostic CAN (CAN D)

The emergency call system control unit then automatically transmits an SMS with the following data to the Service Center, via the communication
module integrated into emergency call system control unit:

Vehicle identification number (VIN)

Vehicle model

The communication module integrated into the emergency call system control unit transmits the mobile phone signals via the following route:

Direct line

-

Multifunction antenna (A28/11)

The Service Center compares the data sent with the request and driver legitimization and, if the data matches, a "vehicle remote door unlock request" is
sent to the vehicle.

The communication module integrated into the emergency call system control unit receives the "Vehicle remote door unlock request" and the mobile
phone signals over the following path:

After receiving the "vehicle remote door unlock request", the emergency call system control unit sends the request to the electronic ignition lock control
unit via the following route:

Diagnostic CAN

Front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module

Interior CAN

The electronic ignition lock control unit then initiates the unlocking of all vehicle doors and the unlocking of the trunk lid (model 212.0) or the liftgate
(model 212.2).

If the "Vehicle remote door unlock request" is refused by the service center because, for example, the external operation switch was not actuated at the
time agreed on or legitimization way incorrect, the vehicle remote door unlock function is disabled for t = 15 min.

The execution of the vehicle remote door unlock is displayed by a message in the instrument cluster (A1). In addition, the red light-emitting diode in the
emergency call system button (S93/3) flashes.

In the event of vehicle remote door unlocking, other vehicle related services with lower priority (e.g. vehicle remote door lock) are interrupted.

In the event of a multifunction antenna malfunction (e.g. defective because of rollover) the emergency call system control unit automatically uses the
emergency call system antenna (A2/52) to transmit mobile phone signals.
