Pressure Plate: Testing and Inspection

Component Identification

Checking pressure plate

Check friction surface (1a) of pressure plate (1) for scorch cracks and score marks.

Check diaphragm spring (1b) for fractures.

Check tongues (arrow) of diaphragm (1b) for wear and even height.

Component Identification

Checking clutch plate

Check friction lining on the drive and output side (2a) of clutch plate (2) for oil fouling, cracks and chippings.

Check friction lining thickness.

6

Check splined profile (2b) for wear and chippings.

It must be possible to move the clutch plate (2) on the input shaft of the transmission with a small amount of force.
