ESP, BAS and ABS Lights On
If you encounter instances in Model 463 vehicles of the ESP (Electronic Stability Program), BAS (Brake Assist System) and ABS (Anti-Braking
System) lights on when driving straight ahead, the steering wheel may be off center. This may also be accompanied by an incorrect code in the traction
systems of C1140-012 (N49 fault in CAN communication with component N80). This vehicle has neither an N49 nor N80 component. This condition
may be caused by a bent steering / suspension component. In most cases, it is the pan hard rod being bent when the vehicle is driven on hard pavement
with the differentials locked or from aggressive off road maneuvers.
To determine if the panhard rod is bent, special measurement kit 201 589 076300 and tool 124 589 011900, or equivalent, may be used to measure the
distance between the panhard rod mounting bolts. (Figure 1). The measurement should be approximately 760 mm from the center of each bolt.
If the panhard rod is bent, it must be replaced.
