Initial issue

This Service Campaign has been initiated because DAG has determined that in the affected vehicles an increased no-load current may occur from
repeated opening and closing of the lift gate, using the key remote, or the lift gate lock switch overshoots the switching range. These conditions may
cause the battery to drain. To correct these conditions, Dealers will update the Rear SAM software at the next workshop visit.

Prior to performing this Service Campaign:

^ Please check VMI to determine if the vehicle is involved in the Campaign and if it has been previously repaired.

^ Please review the entire Service Campaign bulletin and follow the repair procedure exactly as described.

Please note that Recall and Service Campaigns do not expire and may also be performed on a vehicle with a vehicle status indicator.

Approximately 29,055 vehicles are affected.

Procedure

Note:

^ Use DAS/Xentry 07/09 with all associated patches or higher.

^ Follow the steps exactly as described in DAS/Xentry.

^ Connect battery charger (battery voltage >12.5V).

1. Connect Star Diagnosis to vehicle.

2. Initialize rear SAM: 

Control Unit groups / Body / REAR SAM - Rear signal acquisition and actuation module / Initial startup - Do not replace control module (this is how
SDS checks if control module needs updating).

Note:

^ Coding is only required for spare wheel carrier and trailer hitch. No other changes to coding are required for this update.

^ When coding for spare wheel carrier select: NOT Present.

^ Code for trailer hitch as applicable.

^ VMI information should be available IF needed.
