Component Identification

Location

The rotary light switch is located at the left next to the steering wheel in the instrument panel.

Design

The rotary light switch contains the following components:

Exterior lights switch, with following positions

Left parking lights (1)

Right parking lights (2)

Auto on/off headlamps (4)

Turning the rotary light switch to the low beams position and pulling it out until it latches into place switches on the left front fog lamp (E5/1) and
the right front fog lamp (E5/2), pulling it out further to the second latching position also switches on the left rear fog light (E3e5) (on left-hand
drive vehicles) or the right rear fog light (E4e5) (on right-hand drive vehicles).

The positions are read in over the local interconnect network (LIN) by the upper control panel control unit (N72/1).
