Chrome Plating Peeling on Decorative Caps on the Steering Wheel Spokes

If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles of the chrome plating peeling on the decorative caps on the lower steering wheel spokes, this
is due to less than optimal adhesion between the chrome plating and the base material. Do not replace the steering wheel as the chrome plated caps are
separately available.

1. Carefully pry caps off steering wheel spokes with a wedge (Figure 1) as per WIS document AR46.10-P-0105RT.

NOTE:  

Use suitable protection to avoid damaging the steering wheel and airbag cover. It is not necessary to remove steering wheel and / or airbag.

2. Apply a small amount of special adhesive to the inside of the replacement caps.

3. Position caps and press into place.

NOTE:

Be certain not to transpose the left and right covers.

Always refer to EPC for the latest information on parts. Color index corresponds to the paint work of the decorative caps recess. The chrome
plating remains.
