General

The DVD drive of the COMAND controller unit supports playback of video DVDs. The video image is displayed on the Audio/ COMAND display
(A40/8) once the Video menu in the application bar and then the DVD Video menu item in the function bar have been selected.

Operating instructions

The system can be operated using the:

Audio/COMAND control panel (A40/9)

-

Control buttons of the COMAND controller unit

-

Left multifunction steering wheel button group (S110) and right multifunction steering wheel button group (S111)

Function sequence

The DVD drive can be used to read out and decode DVD videos. The COMAND controller unit transmits the picture data to the Audio/COMAND
display via a low voltage differential signaling (LVDS) line. The "DVD menu" and the "Title menu" are stored on the DVD. Audio signals are amplified
within the COMAND controller unit and processed accordingly for the stored tone settings.

The audio output of these amplified and processed signals is performed by the COMAND controller unit to the following speakers via direct lines:

Left front door speaker (H4/1)

Right front door speaker (H4/2)

-

Left rear door speaker (H4/3)

-

Right rear door speaker (H4/4)

The DVD Video picture is available up to a speed of <=5 km/h. Only acoustic playback remains active while driving. For safety reasons a warning is
shown in the Audio/ COMAND display.
