PROCEDURE FOR PROPERLY ADJUSTING FRONT DOOR LATCHES
Procedure
1.
Remove access plug for door latch adjustment screw. Access hole is located near upper mounting screw of door latch.
2.
Insert a 4 mm ball end Allen wrench through access hole, into door latch adjustment screw. Push in on door handle and loosen door latch
adjustment screw. Do not remove wrench from adjustment screw. (Note: Right front door latch adjustment screw has a lefthand thread.)
3.
Pull door handle open approximately 1 mm and hold in this position. With ball Allen wrench engaged in adjustment screw, push firmly on screw
towards interior door panel, then tighten adjustment screw. (Torque to 8 Nm [+/-2].)
4.
Look into adjustment screw access hole and watch for movement of adjustment screw while slowly pulling open door handle. There should be 1
mm (+1/-0) of pre-stroke (free play) before observing any movement of adjustment screw. Release stroke (latch release) should occur after pulling
door handle open 15 mm (+2/-0).
5.
Pre-stroke and release stroke measurements can be made by measuring difference in height between outer parting surfaces of movable and
stationary sections of door handle.
