ML 430 (163.172) V8-4.3L (113.942) (2000)
Component Identification
Vacuum-powered brake booster with one or two diaphragms. The BAS solenoid valve (y1) and the BAS release switch (s1) are permanently built into
the BAS brake booster (A7/7) (cannot be changed). The BAS diaphragm travel sensor (b1) and, if necessary, the BAS control unit (N48) are fitted
onto the brake booster (can be changed).
GF42.31-P-4000-02A Brake Booster BAS, Function
GF42.31-P-4000-02A Brake booster BAS, function
Component Identification
Basic function as a normal brake booster.
An emergency stop is detected by the BAS control unit via the BAS diaphragm travel sensor (b1). In the case of a BAS brake application, the BAS
solenoid valve (y1) opens valve (d), which admits atmospheric pressure from inside the vehicle via the air filters (g and f) to the rear of the power
diaphragms (c).
The full assistance pressure from the brake booster is transmitted to the master brake cylinder via the output rod (h).
