to open diode case.

After opening the diode case, carefully lift and release each wire from its contact terminal.

Discard the "splice diode".

6.

Separately insulate each wire at point where splice contact had pierced the wire insulation. Electrical insulation tape should extend 20 mm beyond
both sides of pierced insulation. Additionally, using electrical tape, completely tape over the exposed section of the harness where the splice diode
was removed.

Note:

If the splice diode is NOT removed and an updated SRS control module (N212) is installed, the seat belt warning chime will activate on startup with
the driver seat belt buckled.

Reinstall instrument cluster (see WIS: AR54.30-P-6015GH).

8.

Connect Star Diagnosis System (SDS) and check the part number of the SRS control module (N212). If part number 002 542 49 18 is present, then
remove this control module (see WIS: AR91 .60-P-0623GH) since it will be replaced by an updated version in repair step # 9. When removing the
control module, ensure that the ignition key is in position 0.

9.

Install new SRS control module (see WIS: AR91.60-P-0623GH) as noted in the "Parts Information" table.

10.

Using Star Diagnosis, version code the newly installed SRS control module (N212).

11.

Access instrument cluster with Star Diagnosis.

Note:

As of January 2000, DAS update for Star Diagnosis will automatically activate the "Lamp Test delay" function whenever diagnostic communication
is made with the instrument cluster. "Lamp Test Delay" function is a hidden function and is not viewable.

12.

Finally, read out and erase any relevant fault codes with Star Diagnosis.

13.

Perform an operational test to ensure the proper operation of the seat belt warning chime.
