Remove/Install Radial Shaft Seal At Transfer Case Input Shaft

Remove

Remove transfer case (1) from vehicle.

Mount transfer case (1) on assembly stand (010) using support plate (020).

Remove radial shaft seal (2)

CAUTION:  Use a suitable tool to lever out the radial shaft seal, moving cautiously to avoid damaging the sensitive housing.

Install

Wrap adhesive tape around gearing of transfer case input shaft (2).

CAUTION:  Input shaft gearing must be wrapped to prevent damage to radial shaft seal.

Install new radial shaft seal (2).

Remove adhesive tape from transfer case input shaft.

Install transfer case

Check transfer case oil level

NOTE:  Correct oil level is at the lower rim of the filler hole. Insert filler plug and drain plug with sealing compound.

Check transfer case for leaks.
