on the intensity of the current. For this reason, the requirements mentioned above must be observed when calibrating the electronic compass.

NOTE:  Influence of the tailgate on the compass

The electronic compass (B26) is located below the tailgate. The magnetic field around the compass differs greatly, therefore, depending on whether the
tailgate is open or closed. When the tailgate is open, the route is therefore not displayed on the trip computer (N41) and "--"appears on the display. The
signal of the tailgate rotary tumbler microswitch (S88/11) is used here. The signal is read in by the all activity module (AAM, N10) (also for central
locking) and passed as a CAN message to the trip computer control module (N41).

Date, Function

Date

The date is displayed in the order "MONTH.DAY" with the miles setting, and in the order "DAY.MONTH" with the kilometers setting.

The trip computer control module (TRIP, N41) receives a synchronization pulse via the engine compartment CAN to switch the display to the next day
each time the date changes on the electronic dock (A1p6) which is integrated in the instrument cluster (A1). The dock in the instrument cluster must
therefore be set to the correct time to ensure that the correct date is displayed.

NOTE:  The correct year must also be set to ensure that leap years are taken into account.

Display Behavior When Switching On, Function

Once terminal 15R is switched on (from starter switch (S2) in position "1"), all segments are actuated for approx. 1 second on the display of the trip
computer control module (RRE, N41).

Displaying Route, Function

Function requirements:
Ignition: ON
Tailgate closed

Displaying the route

The compass function can be selected by pressing the Mode button (right-hand button, N41s2) on the trip computer (N41). The direction in which the
vehicle is facing then appears on the display of the trip computer control module (N41).
The route is displayed as a point of the compass N, NE, E, SE, S, SW, W, or NW. The display shown is valid for Germany. If other countries are
selected, the display changes according to the language of the particular country.
The directions are always displayed as the first letter of the points of the compass (e.g. North, South, East, and West).
