Seat Occupant Classification Module - Air Bag: Description and Operation
GF91.60-P-4046GMU WSS (Weight Sensing System) Control Unit, Component Description
- with CODE (494) USA version
Component Identification
Location
The WSS control unit is located in the seat frame of the front passenger seat.
Task
The WSS control unit has the following tasks:
^
Reading in of sensors, pickups and signals
^
Evaluation of input factors
^
Display of information
Reading in of sensors, pickups and signals
The input factors are read in via the following connection:
^
Direct line
Direct line
The following components and signals are read in over a direct line:
-
Circuit 30
-
Circuit 31
-
Left front WSS sensor (Weight Sensing System) (B48/11)
-
Right front WSS sensor (Weight Sensing System) (B48/12)
-
Left rear WSS sensor (Weight Sensing System) (B48/13)
-
Right rear WSS (Weight Sensing System) sensor (B48/14)
The voltage supply to the WSS sensors is activated via a direct line by the WSS control unit.
Evaluation of input factors
The WSS control unit measures the weight (person or child seat) on the front passenger seat using the WSS sensors on the seat frame. The WSS control
unit performs a classification of the weight on the seat based on the measured sensor valves.
Display of information
Information is issued via the following connection:
^
Interior CAN
Interior CAN
The WSS control unit sends the information via the interior CAN to the central gateway control unit (N93).
The central gateway control unit routes the data via the engine compartment CAN to the restraint system control unit (N2/7).
