Throttle Lift-Off Clunking Noise In Vehicle Speed Range Up To Approx. 50 MPH
If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles of a throttle lift-off clunking noise in the vehicle speed range up to approx. 50 MPH, it may
be due to load change damping of the drive train which is not ideal and may also have effects on the quality of downshifts 4-3, 3-2 and 2-1 in the 722.9
automatic transmission.
To verify the complaint, road-test the vehicle by manually restricting the shifting range with the engine at moderate speeds, briefly depress the
accelerator pedal momentarily up to 50% of overall travel while listening for any knocking noises in the drive-train. If the condition is found to exist,
resolve by programming the engine control module with Star Diagnosis 10/08 or later and perform SCN coding.
