accident occurs, the emergency call system control unit automatically generates an emergency call telegram containing the position data for the vehicle
and transmits it using the mobile two-way radio system in the emergency call system. The emergency call signal reaches the service provider. With the
equipment there, the exact position of the vehicle is determined using the position data.

The emergency call system control unit (N123/4) receives a discreet digital crash signal from the restraint system control unit (N2/7) and, in addition,
redundant crash information, over the Control Area Network bus, class C (engine compartment ) (CAN C), the central gateway control unit (N93) and
the Control Area Network bus, class D (diagnosis) (CAN D). The crash information reports on the type of accident (head-on, rear end, side or rollover
accident).
The restraint systems control unit sends a LIFE signal every 500 ms. This indicates to the emergency call system control unit that the crash recognition
feature is operating properly.
