Component Identification
Location
The emergency call system control unit (N123/4) is located on a bracket below the rear bench seat.
The individual services must be authorized.
Task
The emergency call system control unit is responsible for the following functions:

Integrated telephone module for emergency call, MB-Info call, roadside assistance call, tracking and remote door unlock
^
Independent position sensing
^
Acquiring and storing vehicle-specific data (e.g. circuit status)
^
Actuation of TELE AID antenna (A2/93a4) or TELE AID backup antenna (A2/50)
^
Reading in the voice signal over the hands-free system microphone group (A67b1)
^
Voice output over the center cockpit center speaker (centerfill) (H4/27)
^
Reading in the crash data from the restrain system control unit (N2/7) over a discreet line as well as redundant data over the Control Area Network
bus, class D (diagnosis)

Unlocking the vehicle in an emergency
^
Reading in SOS pushbutton (S93/3) and MB info button group and tele diagnosis (S93/6) via two separate and discrete lines
^
Reading in satellite data over the GPS antenna (A2/93a6)
^
Generating and keeping an SMS ready
^
Muting other audio signals (e.g. radio navigation, telephone)
Design
The emergency call system control unit is designed primarily as follows:

Integrated navigation module

Memory for vehicle-specific data

Function
The emergency call system control unit (N123/4) consists of two modules,

the navigation module and
^
the communication module.
The navigation module allows precise determination of the vehicle position. The communication module is used for handling the emergency call and
