Component Identification

Location

The evaporator of the rear air conditioning is located in the rear AC housing at the left rear.

Task

The evaporator serves for cooling, dehumidifying and purifying the interior compartment air.

Design

Disk evaporator made from soldered semicircular disks with corrugated ribs.

Function

The liquid refrigerant under high pressure is injected into the evaporator through the expansion valve.
The refrigerant evaporates, thereby absorbing the quantity of heat required for evaporation from the air flowing past the evaporator.

The soldered semicircular disks with corrugated ribs provide a large evaporation surface and guarantee rapid heat exchange. The humidity which
condenses during the air cooling process is diverted by way of condensed water drainage hoses into the open.
