Models 164, 164.8, and 251 (with code 489), Model Years 2006-2008

Check Air Suspension Compressor and Replace if Necessary

This Service Campaign has been initiated because Daimler AG has determined that insufficient air pressure in the air suspension system may result from
damage to the pressure disk in the air suspension compressor. The dealer will check the part number of the air suspension compressor and replace the air
suspension compressor and relay if necessary at the next workshop visit.

Prior to performing this Service Campaign:

Please check VMI to determine if the vehicle is involved in the Campaign and if it has been previously repaired.

Please review the entire Service Campaign bulletin and follow the repair procedure exactly as described.

Please note that Recall and Service Campaigns do not expire and may also be performed on a vehicle with a vehicle status indicator.

Approximately 32,833 vehicles are affected.

Procedure

Note:

Code 489 refers to Airmatic.

1.

Partially detach front section of right front fender liner at bottom.

2.

Check compressor to see if the part number (Figure 1) is present.
