COMAND operating, display and controller unit is to provide uniform and user-friendly display of all individual components integrated in the system.
From the COMAND operating, display and control unit, the following system components integrated into the device can be controlled:

Map navigation with DVD
^
Radio tuner
^
Basic audio amplifier
^
CD audio
The COMAND operating, display and controller unit consists of 2 control units. These are the control and display group and the audio gateway.
Communication of these modules takes place internally via Media Oriented System Transport (MOST).
The following are additionally actuated:

Amplifier for sound system (N40/3)
^
CD changer (A2/6)
^
Universal Portable CTEL Interface (UPCI [UHI]) control unit (N123/1)
^
External analog audio source, which can be connected via the AUX jack (in glove box)
^
Bluetooth headsets
Other functions:

Controller Area Network (data bus/CAN bus) (CAN) interface

MOST ring master (light power and clock master)
^
Central diagnostic interface between MOST and Controller Area Network bus class B (interior) (CAN-B)

Operation
When switching on the COMAND operating, display and controller unit using "circuit 15 ON" or by pressing the "ON" hard key, the menu that was
displayed last before the unit was switched off is shown.
By pressing the hardkey button preferred in each case, the following base functions can be called up:
