Fuel Filter: Description and Operation
GF47.20-P-2110AMG Component Description For The Fuel Filter With Fuel Pressure Regulator
The fuel filter with pressure limiting valve is located in the left fuel tank chamber.
Task
The fuel filter filters out the impurities from the fuel and prevents contamination in the fuel injection system.
The pressure limiting valve limits the fuel pressure to a max. of 6.0 bar (for model 216, 221 to a max. of 6.5 bar).
Fuel filter, function
The fuel filter element is integrated in a plastic housing. The fuel flows through it from the outside to the inside. As a result any impurities are trapped.
Pressure limiting valve, function
The pressure limiting valve limits the fuel pressure to a max. of 6.0 bar via the fuel return quantity (for model 216, 221 to a max. of 6.5 bar).
If the set fuel pressure is exceeded, the diaphragm in the pressure limiting valve is pushed against the push spring and the valve attached to the
diaphragm opens the passage for fuel return in to the fuel tank.
If the set pressure is below the limit, the valve is closed again by means of the push spring.
