Valve Cover: Service and Repair

NOTE:  Numbers in parentheses ( ) indicate a component or tool in the associated illustration.

1. Remove cover (5) and ignition coils, then cover (7) and (6).
2. Unscrew bolts (14) and (15) with spacer sleeves (14a) and (15a).
3. Remove cylinder head cover (1) with gaskets (2) and (2a) and shaft seals (3).

NOTE:

Remove grease from sealing groove and, existing reusable gasket (2) so that the gasket (2) adheres better to the cylinder head cover (1).

Do not grease new gasket.

4. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:

Fasten cylinder head cover (1) to 10 Nm, see bolt diagram (illustration).

Run the engine.

Check for leaks, particularly at rear (arrows) at the gaskets (2a)  and in the spark plug recess.
