Piston: Service and Repair

Replacement
1. Remove engine.
2. Remove cylinder head.
3. remove oil pump.
4. remove oil shield.
5. Unbolt conrod bearing cap (1).
NOTE: Conrod (2) and conrod bearing cap (1) are marked together.
6. Remove conrod (2) with piston (4) upward.
NOTE: The direction of travel arrow is stamped at me trap in the piston crown. On certain versions, the direction of travel arrow is no longer
visible if the piston is worn: in this case, mark direction of travel on piston.
7. Pry out piston pin circlip (5) with a screwdriver.
CAUTION: Use clean cloth as base.
8. Repair conrod.
Installation Hint: Align conrod.
9. Check piston ring gap and top clearance.
10. Oil piston pin (6) and conrod bushes.
