Turn wheels to left. Turn brake hose holder in wheel well, slightly toward the front of the vehicle (approx. 10°) (Figure 4).

Note:

(Perform measurement below with wheel turned to the right stop.)

The minimum clearance between the brake hose and shock absorber should not be less than 5 mm. Check brake hose clearance again as described in
test step 5.

Upon completion of work, mark front brake hose fitting on the brake caliper side with a colored dot (ensure brake hose fitting is clean then mark
with touch-up paint).

C. Installation of Retaining Clamp For Left Front Brake Hose

Procedure:

1.

Turn steering wheel to right stop (if working on coupe' model proceed to step 3).

2.

Sedan models:

Check brake hose for damage (visually and by hand). Only if the brake hose shows signs of damage (rubbing or chafing caused by contact with the
wheel), replace the brake hose (SMS, AR42.10-0013A) and bleed brake system (SMS, AR42.10-0010A).

Note:

Any front brake hoses that were replaced must be returned with the copy of the claim to the Warranty Department.

Clip retaining clamp (part no. 140 994 01 48) into the higher of the two holes in the spring mount (Figure 1). Ensure that both tabs on the retaining
clamp snap audibly into place. The opening for the brake hose in the retaining clamp should point inward (towards vehicle).

Note:

When installing retaining clamp, it may be necessary to push on the conical section (A, Figure 1) with a flat blade screwdriver in order to allow the
tabs to engage into place.

4.

Turn wheels to straight ahead position. Insert brake hose into retaining clamp. The clamp should be straight or bent slightly downward. Clearance
(B, Figure 1) between the retainer clamp and brake hose upper fitting should be 20 - 35 mm depending on installation conditions.

5.

Turn steering wheel to left stop. Check clearance (A, Figure 3) between brake hose and left front wheel rim flange (from underneath, through
control arm), minimum clearance (A, Figure 3) is 20 mm.
