Removal and Installation, EXCEPT STEEL SPRING SUSPENSION

1. Raise and support vehicle, then remove front wheel.
2. Remove brake caliper and brake disc.
3. Remove hub cover using removal special tool 116 589 22 33 00, or equivalent.
4. Loosen Allen bolt and clamp nut from steering knuckle journal.
5. Remove wheel hub. If wheel hub is frozen, use special extractor tool 201 589 10 33 00, or equivalent, to remove.
6. Disassemble hub, tapered bearing and tapered bearing race. If inner race for tapered bearing is frozen, use special extractor tool 001 589 36 33 00,

or equivalent, and special collet tool 001 589 03 3400, or equivalent.

7. Reverse procedure to install, noting following:

a. Coat running surface of radial seal ring on steering knuckle with high temperature bearing grease.
b. Adjust wheel bearing as outlined under Wheel Bearing, Adjustments.
