Seat Belt Replacement Regulations

Replacement Specifications 

A. When Damaged Mechanically:

If seat belts are handled improperly (improperly cleaned, stored or pinched), the belt web can be damaged. For this reason visually check the belt web
at each maintenance interval. If the belt web is frayed or damaged, e.g. by a burning cigarette, inform the customer that the seat belt needs to be
replaced. Belts with signs of abrasion without frayed fibres do not require replacement.

If a customer refuses to have the damaged seat belt replaced, make an appropriate entry on the repair order.

If a complaint is received that the "seat belt does not retract properly", before removing check whether the belt winds up properly when returned by
hand or whether it is twisted 180° behind the panelling due to improper handling. For this purpose remove the panelling.

B. Following Accidents:

If one or both belt tensioners where not triggered during an accident, check for mechanical damage according to item A.

If one or both belt tensioners have been triggered during an accident, always replace the entire belt tensioner and check the belt buckle for mechanical
damage; replace, if required.
