2. Take multiple-disc pack (44f) out of outer multiple-disc carrier

Check multiple-discs for burnt spots and wear
3. Place assembly device (072) Tool No. 140 589 13 43 00, or equivalent, on disc spring (44d) and tension until the snap ring (44e) is exposed
4. Remove snap ring (44e)
5. Take out disc spring (44d) and take piston (44c) out of the outer multiple-disc carrier
ASSEMBLY
1. Install piston (44c) in the outer multiply disc carrier

Check sealing ring (44b), replace if necessary

The round off edges of the sealing ring must Do it outwards
2. Insert disc spring (44d).

Insert disc spring with the curvature towards the piston
3. Place assembly device (072) on disc spring and tension until the groove of the snap ring is exposed
4. Insert snap ring (44e)

The collar of the snap ring must point towards the multiple-disc pack.
5. Insert multiple-disc pack (44f), then the snap ring (44g) in the outer multiple-disc carrier and measure as follows:
a. Refer to survey of multiply disc components to locate correct number of discs for this application. See: Application and ID
b. Observe outer multiple-disc sequence of installation, then procedures as follows:
c. Place discs for multiple-disc clutch K3 together in the sequence shown in the illustration above
d. Using a feeler gauge, determine the play "L" at three points between the snap ring (44g) and the outer disc (44a)

During the measurement the snap ring (44g) must contact the upper bearing surface of the groove in the disc carrier
Adjustment Values Multiple Disc Clutch K3
Number Of Discs: 3
Clearance Dimension "L": 0.70-1.90 mm
Number Of Discs: 4
Clearance Dimension "L": 0.70-1.90 mm
Number Of Discs: 5
Clearance Dimension "L": 0.70-2.00 mm
e. Using the table above determine the correct clearance based on the number of discs installed.
f.
Adjust clearance "L" using a snap ring of the correct thickness

Snap rings are available in thicknesses of2.00, 2.30, 2.60, 2.90 and 3.20 mm
