S 430 (220.170) V8-4.3L (113.941) (2000)
DANGER:
-
Risk of accident. Accidents may result if the vehicle starts off unintentionally with the engine running. Risk of injury as working
around the engine during start-up or while running may result in contusions and burns.
-
Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not grasp hot or rotating parts.
4
Start engine
5
Check charge indictor when engine idling and when engine speed increased (up to 3000 rpm)
NOTE: If charge current is correct, no interference message appears in the display of the instrument cluster.
6
Check regulation voltage
NOTE: Drain on battery only from always-on components (e.g. ignition).
Regulating voltage (at battery)
Debit only on permanent consumer
13...14,5 V
Engine Speed
3000 rpm
measured in terms of
~2 min
Regulating voltage > 14.5 V:
1. Replace regulator (only on M112, 113)
2. Replace generator (if regulator OK): M112, M113
3. Replace generator (if regulator OK): M137
Regulating voltage < 13.0 V:
1. Eliminate transition impedance at electrical connections of charging system.
2. Check fuse in terminal block circuit 30 and 61 (X4/10).
3. Check generator diodes.
7
Switch off engine
8
Disconnect multimeter (003) with DC clip-on probe (065).
