Thermal Limiting Fuse: Description and Operation
Belt protection:
Previously the A/C compressor was switched off by the engine system control module (N16) when it became difficult to turn. With introduction of the
electro-magnetic clutch, it assumes this belt protection feature.
A melting fuse is located in the A/C compressor clutch solenoid which switches off the slipping poly-V-belt when the A/C compressor starts to lock up
due the heat development. The previous slip recognition via the speed sensor in the A/C compressor is eliminated; therefore the electrical connector has
only 1 pin.
NOTE: The A/C compressor should be replaced completely when the melting fuse is defective due possible damage to the A/C compressor.
