Brake Fluid: Service and Repair

Replace Brake Fluid

Remove/Install and replacing

DANGER:

-

Lethal injuries are possible if vehicle slips off of lifting platform

-

Align vehicle between the columns of the hydraulic hoist and position the four support plates below the hoist support points specified by
the vehicle manufacturer.

-

Risk of poisoning from swallowing brake fluid. Risk of injury from brake fluid coming into contact with skin and eyes.

-

Pour brake fluid only into suitable and appropriately marked containers. Wear protective clothing and eye protection when handling
brake fluid.

Drive vehicle over the assembly pit or raise with the lifting platform

Unscrew cap (11) of brake fluid reservoir (10)

CAUTION:  See notes on repairs to brake system

Extract brake fluid from brake fluid reservoir (10)

CAUTION:  See brake fluid notes

Fill new brake fluid up to the "MAX" mark of the brake fluid reservoir (10)

Replace brake fluid with brake fluid changing equipment

Connect brake fluid changing equipment and switch on

NOTE:
-

Pay attention to manufacturer's operating instructions.

-

Brake fluid replacement unit

Allow approx. 80 cubic cm of brake fluid to flow out of each brake caliper and the clutch slave cylinder

NOTE:  The new brake fluid must escape free of bubbles via the bleed hose.

Lower vehicle

Disconnect brake fluid changing equipment

Correct the fluid level in the brake fluid reservoir (10)

Screw on cap (11).

Replacing brake fluid without brake fluid changing equipment

With 10 pumping actions each, pump out the old brake fluid at each brake caliper and at the clutch slave cylinder

NOTE:
-

The brake fluid reservoir (10) must not be emptied completely, if necessary refill with new brake fluid up to the "MAX" mark on the brake
fluid reservoir (10).

-

The new brake fluid must escape free of bubbles via the bleed hose.

-

If the brake fluid reservoir (10) is emptied completely, bleed brake system.

Correct the fluid level in the brake fluid reservoir (10)

Screw on cap (11).
