MODEL 140, JUNE 1995 TO DECEMBER 1996 PRODUCTION INSTALLATION OF RETAINING CLAMP FOR FRONT BRAKE HOSES

Enclosed is a sample copy of a letter which will be mailed in the near future to all owners of vehicles within the Effective Serial Number Range listed
below.

This campaign has been initiated because DBAG has determined that under certain conditions when the front wheels are turned to full lock, the wheel
could contact the brake hose. In extreme cases, this may eventually lead to brake fluid loss, the illumination of the brake warning lamp (in the instrument
cluster) and subsequent loss of front braking capability.

Therefore, on vehicles within the chassis end number range given in the table below; the front brake hoses must be inspected and replaced if there are
signs of damage (rubbing and chafing caused by contact with the front wheel), and retaining clamps must be installed (on the left and right front brake
hoses).

Approximately 23,500 vehicles are affected.

By law, all unsold new vehicles in a dealer's possession and subject to the recall must be repaired before the owners take possession of these vehicles.
