When the rear air conditioning is switched on, the vacuum valve for the rear tunnel flap (Y67/1) is open.
In this manner, vacuum travels through the vacuum supply reservoir (1), the vacuum valve block (36) and vacuum valve for the rear tunnel flap (Y67/1)
to the vacuum element for the right rear footwell (50) and the vacuum element for the left rear footwell (51), which close the rear footwell flap on the
automatic A/C housing.
The automatic air conditioning then cools only the front footwell and the rear air conditioning takes over cooling of the rear footwell.

The vacuum element for the recirculated air flap serves for switching over from fresh air to recirculated air.
