Axle Nut: Service and Repair

Axle Nut Removal, installation and securing 12 point collar nut on rear half shaft

Rear Axle Nut

To remove

1. Apply parking brake
2. Slacken and remove twelve-point collared nut (12) for attaching rear axle shaft.

Mount on and secure

Note:  Replace twelve-point collared nut.

3. Tighten twelve-point collared nut (12)
4. Secure the 12-point collar nut with staking tool so that no gap appears between the groove and the securing nob (arrow).
5. Release parking brake.

Torque Specifications

Rear axle shaft

Collared nut, rear axle to rear axle shaft flange
