General

The functionalities for volume and sound settings as well as for amplification of audio signals run in the audio tuner control unit (N93/1) before the audio
signals are output via the speaker system. The volume and sound settings are shown on the COMAND display (A40/8).
The volume and sound settings are carried out via the front central operating unit (A40/9) and the multifunction steering wheel (MFL).

Volume setting

The volume can be adjusted as follows:

With the buttons + and - for setting specific functions and volume control (S111s1) of the MFL

With the volume control (A40/9r1) on the front central operating unit

Changing the volume of an audio source has an identical effect on all other audio sources. The volume is also jointly regulated within the service sources
in the same manner.

The volume of voice output for navigation can be changed during voice output. A certain difference in volume (adjustable in the "System settings"
menu) between the audio signal and the voice output is maintained automatically. This means that voice output remains audible even in the case of loud
audio output.

Tone setting

The sound settings can be selected in the "Sound" menu in the function bar of the COMAND display using the turn/push control (A40/9s11).
The audio tuner control unit enables sound settings to be made manually for each audio source. The tone setting selected for the radio mode
simultaneously applies to the traffic radio announcement. When changing the sound emphasis (balance, fader), the ratio of the volume of the individual
speakers changes.

The sound settings of the voice output during navigation can be individually adjusted. Adjustments which have been selected for the voice output during
navigation also influence the sound settings of the voice control system (VCS [SBS]) (with code (813) Voice control system (VCS [SBS]).

Sound settings in rear, with code (864) Rear entertainment system

Selecting the "Rear" menu allows audio signals to be output in the rear of the vehicle interior via the speaker system fitted in the vehicle. In addition, the
following preset tone settings can be called up:

Speed-dependent volume control (SDV) and Dynamic Range Optimization (DRO)

The volume is adapted to the noise level in the passenger compartment by GAL and the automatic vehicle interior noise adaptation feature DRO. In the
process the vehicle speed signal and signal input to the sound amplifier microphone (B25/6) are used as a relationship indicator.
