Suspension Extremely Stiff After Restart and Level Switch Nonfunctional

If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles where the Airmatic suspension is extremely stiff after vehicle restart (more stiff than
when the vehicle is in Sport mode) and the vehicle level cannot be adjusted and the level switch LED does not illuminated when activated, perform
the following.

Note: 

This suspension condition may result after the vehicle is locked and the chassis CAN switches to sleep mode after approximately 2 minutes. If
the Airmatic control unit awakes after 1.5 seconds, the internal computer of the control unit may hang up during vehicle start-up causing the
control unit to remain in passive mode.

Perform software update on the control unit for air suspension using STAR Diagnosis. The software flash (SW: A221 442 21 02) will be contained
in the current version of STAR Diagnosis.

Note: 

Vehicles produced after VIN A012191 have the modified software installed.
