Evaporator Core: Description and Operation
Rear Air Conditioning Evaporator
The evaporator serves for cooling, dehumidifying and purifying the air flowing to the rear vehicle passenger compartment.
The liquid refrigerant is injected into the rear evaporator under high pressure.
The heat required for evaporation is taken from the air flowing past the evaporator which is cooled down. The fins and louvers provide the evaporator
with a large surface to ensure quick exchange of the heat.
The moisture in the air which condenses out as the air cools is drained to the outside by water condense drain hoses. In addition solid particles in the air
are bound by the water as it condenses thereby purifying the air.
