Audible Warning Device

Audible turn signal indicator (A1h2)

The "audible turn signal indicator" (A1h2) is integrated in the instrument cluster (A1). This is a type of relay without contacts. The turn signal ticking
always sounds in parallel with the flashing frequency. The audible turn signal indicator is actuated differently depending on the function:

Direction indicator flashing
The signal for actuating the "audible turn signal indicator" (A1h2) is received from the steering column module (N80) via the CAN interior.
If one of the turn signal lamps fails, the "audible turn signal indicator" (A1h2) is actuated at twice the frequency. The instrument cluster (A1)
receives the information on the defective turn signal lamp from the control module which activates the defective turn signal lamp, via the CAN
interior.

Warning flashing
The signal for actuating the "audible turn signal indicator" (A1h2) is received from the upper control panel control module (N72/1) via the CAN
interior.

ATA flashing
The signal to actuate the "audible turn signal indicator" (A1h2) is received from the left front SAM control module (N10/6) via the CAN interior.

Flashing for special functions
The signal to actuate the "audible turn signal indicator" (A1h2) is received from the special vehicle multifunction control module (SVMCM,
N29/9) via the CAN interior.

Warning tone

The instrument cluster (A1) has a loudspeaker which sounds a gong or a short buzzer in the event of various faults and operating conditions. Generally
this audible signal is only given once however, there are a few instances when the signal will be repeated.

The gong sounds:

-

If a fault message or warning message of medium and highest priority occurs (in addition to the message in the multifunction display A1p13).
More information on this can be found in the documentation on the particular system.

When the seat belt reminder lamp (A1e9) comes on. This lamp is not available for all national variants.
The activated signal is received from the left or right front seat adjustment control modules, with memory (N32/1 and N32/2) via the CAN interior.

When the low brake fluid level/parking brake indicator lamp (A1e7) comes on, if the parking brake is not released when starting off. 
The gong sounds until the parking brake is released or the engine switched off. The actuation signal is received from the left front SAM control
module (N10/6) via the CAN interior.

If the ignition key is inserted in the EIS control module (N73), when the ignition is OFF and the driver's door is opened. The "ignition key status
information" and ignition off are received from the EIS control module (N73) and the door contact signal is received from the rear SAM control
module (N10/8) via the CAN interior.

If the side lights are switched on, the key is removed arid the driver's door is opened (lights on warning).
The "ignition key status information" is received from the EIS control module (N73), the door contact signal is received from the rear SAM
control module (N10/8) and the parking light signal from the left front SAM control module (N10/6) via the CAN interior.

If the child safety device is unlocked. The actuation signal is received from the PSE control module (combined functions) (A37) via the CAN
interior.

If a speed of 210 km/h is exceeded on vehicles with special protection.
The gong stops as soon as the speed drops below 207 km/h.
The speed value displayed in the electronic speedometer (A1p8) is used.

If the speed of 120 km/h is exceeded (Gulf states only).
The gong stops as soon as the speed drops below 117 km/h.

if the speed adjusted on the variable speed limiter is exceeded, e.g. due to overthrust.
The speed value displayed is used.
The set maximum speed is received from the injection system control module (N3) via the CAN engine compartment.

The buzzer sounds:

-

When the DTR warning lamp (A1e59) comes on.
It is actuated if the safety distance to the vehicle travelling in front is not maintained.
The actuation signal is received from the DTR control module (N63/1) via the CAN engine compartment.
