Emergency Release of Glove Compartment Lid

If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles that the glove compartment lid can not be opened, it is possible that the lock (Figure 1, 4)
has malfunctioned, the adjustment of the cable (Figure 1, 3) is not correct or the glove compartment lid is distorted. In this case, open the glove
compartment lid (Figure 2,1) with a self-made tool (Figure 3) in a non-destructive manner as follows to resolve.

1.

Remove front passenger door air outlet on the side of the instrument panel.

2.

Guide hook (Figure 2, 2) over the gap behind the instrument panel to the glove compartment lock (Figure 1, 4) and open the lock by means of a
rotary motion (Figure 1, arrow).

3.

Remove glove compartment according to AR68.10-P-1400M.

4.

Insure correct functioning of glove compartment lid lock. Distorted lids must be replaced.

5.

Reinstall glove compartment according to AR68.10-P-1400M

6.

Reinstall front passenger door air outlet on the side of the instrument panel.
