Instrument Cluster Message: Change Key Batteries

If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles of the white Instrument Cluster message "Change Key Batteries" appearing although the
batteries in the transmitter key are new or almost new, the following procedure should be followed.

Note:

Do not replace any parts. The batteries in the KEYLESS-GO key perform different tasks. One battery is for transmitting the radio/infrared signal,
while the other operates the drive authorization processor in the key. If the capacity difference between the more heavily loaded radio/infrared battery
and the processor battery is too great, the batteries are connected in parallel. This can result in the message in the instrument cluster described above.
This only happens if the processor battery was not loaded or was loaded very little beforehand.

Put load on the batteries in the transmitter key. To do this, operate the "Summer opening" feature for the power windows and the sliding roof five (5)
times by aiming the transmitter eye of the transmitter key at the driver's outside door handle. Fully open and fully close the windows and sliding roof
with each operation.

The following allowable labor operations should be used when submitting a warranty claim for this repair.
